Marianne & Mary Fons
Marianne Fons, co-founder of the Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting magazine and television program was our very special guest at the 2013 Original Creative Festival. Marianne was joined by her daughter Mary Fons. She is the new co-host on the Love of Quilting TV show and founder of Hey Quilty, a website aimed especially at younger and beginning quilters.
On Friday, June 14. Marianne presented "Why We Quilt" and then Mary entertained with her lecture "A Thirtysomething Quilter Tells All." In the afternoon, the mother-daughter duo joined together to share "Beyond the Binding: Everyday Quilters, Extraordinary Quilts."

Joi Mahon
Representing Baby Lock, USA, designer Joi Mahon bridges the gap between the fashion industry and home sewing. This successful, trendy and popular designer presented classes June 13-15, 2013, at the Original Creative Festival, a quilt, sew and fiber art expo produced by CDM Shows. Joi creates fashions for clients all over the U.S. for her business Dress Forms Design Studio LLC. She is an owner of a clothing patent, a licensor, a published author, award winning designer and educator presenting the series Love of Fashion. Popular with the younger aspiring fashion student and fashion sewer, Joi teaches students the exact design processes and techniques she uses in her studio bringing ideas from concept to fabric. The class topics she focuses on include but are not limited to fashion draping, sewing as a business, fit and measuring the body, trends and design, designer bodice assembly, specific fashion projects and more. |

Traveling Quilt Exhibit
Alzheimer's Illustrated: From Heartbreak to Hope |

"Alzheimer's Illustrated: From Heartbreak to Hope" is a traveling quilt exhibit about Alzheimer's. From June 13-15, this exhibit was shown at The Original Creative Festival in Cincinnati, OH.
It featured 236 quilts. Long, narrow "Name Quilts" are made from 55 purple patches, each marked with the name of a person who has/had Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia.

See The Baby Lock Love of Fashion Trunk Show by Designer Joi

Designer Joi Mahon's Baby Lock trunk show has been traveling the U.S. and appearing at sewing events all over the country. In June the trunk show was at The Original Creative Festival at the Sharonville Convention Center.
Designer Joi also taught many classes and workshops during the Festival. Many of her classes used Baby Lock sergers and sewing machines that were provided in the classrooms.

Tie on your aprons and join us as we create "Cincinnati's got talent" Mommy and me style, where everyone is a winner creating memories that last a lifetime.
This is not only a contest but a fashion show, a fashion show that includes mommy and me. Did you say you do not have a child to enter the contest with? The Contest is open for Grandma's and child or even the child next door. Both adult and child will model together in our fashion show on Saturday, June 15 from 1:30 pm to 2 pm during the Original Creative Festival. DETAILS |

The LoveQuilt Connection Returned To The
2013 Original Creative Festival
During the Festival attendees had
the
opportunity to sit and sew a seam for charity.
We used the 6- Hour Quilt by Kaye Wood, famous quilt teacher,
author and hostess of TV's Kaye's Quilting Friends
Machines for the LoveQuilt Connection
were supplied by Seams Sew Easy of Fairfield OH.

| We appreciate volunteers. Volunteers are necessary to help hang quilts, watch the displays, and take down the quilts. Volunteers also help white glove, register students, are door monitors, teacher's assistants and help with other tasks to make the show run efficiently and safely. Thank you to everyone who helped at the Festival this year. |

You will need to bring the following supplies if you are taking any hands-on
classes: sharp sewing
shears, rotary cutter,
cutting mat, straight pins,
marking tool, ruler, tape
measure, #2 pencils and
notepad.
Sewing machines are
provided in the classroom.
