Discover how easy it is to make bags with character to fit your special needs. Whether making a cute evening bag, holder for CDs, or large carryall for everyday, there are tricks of the trade. Padded shoulder straps, chain application, corded piping, sew-in magnetic snaps, bag feet, and under construction essentials are some of the basics. There are tips for proper positioning of creative design for all styles of bags. Use handbags as a palette to play with your sewing machine while creating bags uniquely your own. Here's your chance to bring a shirt to class and get it ready for embellishment. You will learn the proper method for finding the center, stabilizing the center front, learn how to add clear elastic to the neckline for strength, cut up the shirt and fit it, stabilize the hemline…anything and everything can be done without a sewing machine…there will be at least one in class for basic basting if needed. The purpose of this class is to give you the courage to do it yourself at home…instead of thinking about it or doing it and not being happy with the results. This will jumpstart your success and you'll be ready to go home and start creating! Join Cindy for this great class! All your stabilizers and your choice of pattern come with the class.
Kit fee $25 - paid at the beginning of the class to the instructor.

Learn how easy it is to apply color using regular colored pencils to a small, quilted piece. Don't be afraid of using bold, bright colors to create great contrast and drama to your piece. Also learn how to do very impressive looking shading in order to create a 3D effect. Your design might look bright, or very soft if you prefer. After you learn how easy it is, you will ask yourself why didn't you try it a long time ago!

Applique Piecing With Wool Felts

This is a colorful piecing project using a favorite, versatile fabric -- wool felts. These wool felts have been felted to give texture. They will be put together to create a beautiful piece without turning under the edges. This lovely small piece will also be finished with hand embroidery to add a dimensional and lovely finish! So you will have the opportunity to brush up on your embroidery stitches or learn some new stitches. Barbara's signature to many of her designs is hand embroidery. She says it is "like the icing on the cake" -- a way to add another dimension to the surface. Your finished piece can be hung on the wall, have a candle placed on it, or be used on a table center. The finished project is approx. 10" x 10". This is a great opportunity to advance your sewing experience. Kit fee: $27 includes felted wool felts, pattern, threads, needles, fusible webbing. Learn the proper way to cut with scissors, how to hold a rotary cutter, which end of a seam ripper is up, and which iron is best for you. The right tools for the job can make all the difference in our sewing enjoyment, so if you haven't updated your "tool box" lately, or you're new to sewing and want to make the right purchases, then this is for you!
